11/30/21, 1:43 PM Article Model Year 2018 - Equipped With An Automated Manual Transmission ( AMT-F ) ( I-Shift, mDRIVE ) Noisy When The Vehicle Is Stationary Shifting From Neutral To Drive Or Reverse Internal Content This is normal and functioning as designed. If the customer is not complaining about the function when actually using the truck there is nothing to investigate or fix. The AMT - F has a new configuration of the Transmission Electronic Control Unit ( TECU ) that moves all the shift solenoids to the left (drivers) side of the control housing and all air venting is done through the vents on the left ( drivers ) side of the gearbox. Additionally the top of the TECU housing has a large flat panel that can amplify sounds from the gearbox and make it more apparent to the driver in stationary situations.
