OVERVIEW:
This information only bulletin discusses procedures that must be followed for BEV/Hybrid vehicles
that are on display at dealership showrooms.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North
America, LATAM, APAC and EMEA.
CAUTION! Using instruments that do not meet the minimum requirements for recharging
batteries, does not allow nor guarantee recharging the battery correctly and could
seriously damage the car’s electrical/electronic components.
CAUTION! Using the incorrect battery charger, which does not meet the minimum
requirements for recharging batteries, may not recharge the battery correctly
and could damage the battery and/or the vehicles electrical components. Refer to
the detailed service procedures available in DealerConnect> Service Library
under: Service Info>08 - Electrical / 8F - Engine Systems / Battery System /
Battery / Standard Procedure.
DISCUSSION:
Please note that to manage the vehicles in the showroom, the following procedures and instructions
regarding the use of batteries must be observed:
1. Charge the HV battery to 90% (high voltage battery/traction battery) before putting the vehicle
in the showroom.
2. Make sure that the engine hood is closed correctly.
3. Check the SOC (State of Charge) of the HV battery once a week and charge it to 90% if the
SOC is less than 30%.
4. If the side lights will be turned on fixed/for a long period of time, leave the vehicle switched to
key on, the keys must be left in the vehicle.
5. Switch the vehicle to key on at least once a day for at least 30 minutes, in order to charge the
LV battery (low voltage 12V).

• Check the SOC of the LV battery once a week using the wiTECH diagnosis equipment.
Remember that the vehicle will not wake up automatically if the vehicle was not switched to key
on during the 24 hours prior to the programmed wake up time.
CAUTION! It is recommended to strictly observe the above instructions to avoid problems
due to the vehicle battery discharging too much.
WARNING! Indications below needed only if necessary to recharge the 12V battery with an
external charger.
Before charging the 12V battery, disconnect any charging devices and the
diagnosis equipment (if connected), open the driver’s door and fully roll down
the window, turn the key or set the starter button to OFF. Remove the key and
put it in a safe location away from the vehicle, close the driver side door, wait 5
minutes. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerConnect>
Service Library under: Service Info>08 - Electrical / 8F - Engine Systems / Battery
System / Battery / Standard Procedure.
CAUTION! Never perform a Key-on while the 12V battery is charging, and make sure that the
wiTECH Micropod is disconnected.
NOTE: The remaining steps in this informational service bulletin do not apply to any
vehicles in North America.

Press the retainer, disconnect and isolate the 12-volt negative battery cable from the battery
negative terminal (Fig. 1) .

Release the retaining clips and remove the protective cover to access the High Voltage
Interlock (HVIL) connector (Fig. 3) .

• Extract the lock of the HVIL connector. Press and extract the contact slide to the end of its
travel, for complete access to the service lockout loop (Fig. 4) .

• The 12V battery can now be charged.
CAUTION! Keep the key of the padlock in a safe place, to prevent unauthorized removal of
the padlock.
