Issue
Symptom
External lubricating oil leak from lubricating oil pan gasket
Root Cause
Lubricating oil pan gasket damaged during install caused by misalignment with cylinder block
cap screw holes and lubricating oil pan. Damage can occur during assembly at plant or during
service repair.
Verification
Verify external lubricating oil leak found coming from the lubricating oil pan gasket. See L9
CM2450 L126B Service Manual, Bulletin 5613077. Refer to Procedure 007-025 in Section 7.

Verify Lubricating oil pan gasket rubber material torn away from metal carrier near a cap screw
hole as shown in Figure 1 below.

instructions. See L9 CM2450 L126B Service Manual, Bulletin 5613077. Refer to Procedure

Quantity of six (6) Assembly Guide Pins, Part Number 3164977, must be installed in the
cylinder block at the locations shown in Figure 2 below for proper lubricating oil pan gasket
alignment.

Note : The L9 CM2450 L126B may have a variety of different lubricating oil pan and
cylinder block stiffener plate options installed. Verify the proper gaskets are used for the
lubricating oil pan configuration being serviced. Certain configurations may utilize only
RTV sealant to seal the lubricating oil pan to the cylinder block stiffener plate.
