Technical Service Bulletin 94 Tail lamp warning, various DTCs B16D431, B16D631, B16D531, and/or B16D731 are stored in the comfort module 94 21 52 2065234/1 December 7, 2021. Model(s) Year VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment A4, S4 2020 All LED rear combination lamp, dynamic turn signal A4, S4 2021 000001 - 059933 LED rear combination lamp, dynamic turn signal Condition Customer states: There is a tail lamp warning displayed in the instrument cluster. When actuating the turn signal, the indicator in the instrument cluster may flash more quickly. Workshop findings: The concern can be sporadic and may not be able to be reproduced in the workshop. One or more of the following DTCs are stored in the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 0046): No Signal: DTC B16D431 (Left tail lamp 1, no signal). DTC B16D631 (Right tail lamp 1, no signal). DTC B16D531 (Left tail lamp 2, no signal). DTC B16D731 (Right tail lamp 2, no signal). Open Circuit: DTC B16D413 (Left tail lamp 1, open circuit). DTC B16D613 (Right tail lamp 1, open circuit). DTC B16D513 (Left tail lamp 2, open circuit). DTC B16D713 (Right tail lamp 2, open circuit). Lamp faulty: DTC B16D5F1 (Right rear tail lamp 2 LED faulty). DTC B16D5F2 (Left rear tail lamp 2 LED faulty). DTC B16D6F1 (Right rear tail lamp 1 LED faulty). DTC B16D7F4 (Right rear tail lamp 2 Turn signal light defective). Technical Background The diagnostic software is too sensitive. Production Solution New software installed in the tail lamps for production. Service 1. It is possible to have one or more of the above faults stored for the tail lamp(s). Inspect the harness connection and condition of the faulted tail lamp(s) before proceeding. If there is any damage to the lamp, pins, connector or wiring, repair the damage first and reevaluate. 2. If there is no damage found, then follow the update instructions below. SVM Update Instructions 3. Follow all instructions in TSB 2011732: 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions. 4. Update the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 0046) using the SVM action code as listed in the table below, if necessary: Tip: This SVM code flashes the tail lamps only. Tail lamps are a sub address of the convenience electronics, J393 (address word 0046).
