Technical Service Bulletin 91 Front parking aid provides false warnings after a sudden temperature change 91 22 62 2065658/1 January 7, 2022. Model(s) Year VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment Q8 2019-2022 All 7X2 – Parking aid (front and back) SQ8 2020-2022 All 7X2 – Parking aid (front and back) RSQ8 2020-2022 All 7X2 – Parking aid (front and back) Condition Customer states: • After leaving a relatively cool garage compared to the outside temperature, the parking aid activates and detects “ghost” objects around the vehicle for the first couple of minutes when driving. Workshop findings: • No relevant DTCs are stored in the vehicle. Technical Background The parking aid sensors are temperature compensated. To suppress false or jittery temperature readings, the vehicle’s temperature sensor output is dampened. Therefore, when transitioning from cool air (like in a cool garage) into hot air, it can take a couple of minutes for the temperature sensor to catch up with the actual outside air temperature. This means, that in those situations, the parking aid sensors are compensated to an incorrect temperature which in certain cases can cause “ghost” warnings.
