Customer states:
• Warning message relating to the steering is displayed in the instrument cluster.
• Increased effort may be needed to steer the vehicle.
Workshop findings:
• There are various DTC’s stored relating to the power steering module, J500 (diagnostic address 0044).
• Coupling point (TMR T1c/T1cx) to the electromechanical steering rack is oxidized.
Technical Background
The contact in the connector housing oxidizes due to moisture ingress.

During diagnosis of a steering
warning concern, connector
T1c/T1cx at the TMR station is
found to be oxidized.
See Figures 1-6
Figure 1: Connector station to be inspected.
2.
If the contact at the vehicle side of
the wiring harness (T1c) is oxidized
it can be replaced with a repair
cable. Refer to figure 6 or 7.

affected, replace the steering
harness section as well.

If the concern matches the
damage found in this TSB, take
clear photos of your findings and
submit these to DOC-IT.
Proceed with the following steps
to repair the cable.

Before starting the repair, de-energize the 12V system.
6.
Route the repair cable from the
central fuse (fuse D, 125A, figure 6
or 7 based on PR codes) on the
12V battery along the original
wiring as far as the front right
longitudinal member.
Wrap adhesive tape N 107 290 02
around the new repair cable in
places so that the cable won’t
chafe or cause noises.
