APPLIED VEHICLES: 2022 Pathfinder (R53) 2021-2022 Rogue (T33) 2020-2022 Sentra (B18) SERVICE INFORMATION This bulletin contains supplementary information related to the rear door alert system on the APPLIED VEHICLES. Although the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) should be the primary source of information for inspection, diagnosis, and repair, the supplementary information in this bulletin will assist in these areas. The information in this bulletin includes: Rear Door Alert Description How to Turn the Rear Door Alert System ON and OFF Vehicle Information Display Alert/Message Rear Door Alert Operation NOTE: Do not replace the BCM for a rear door alert concern unless all information in this bulletin has been reviewed and the concern has been verified to be abnormal. Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/4 REAR DOOR ALERT DESCRIPTION The rear door alert functions under certain conditions to indicate there may be a passenger or object in the rear seat. The rear door alert does not directly sense or detect objects in the rear seat. Instead, it can detect when the rear door is opened or closed, indicating that there may be something in the rear seat. HOW TO TURN THE REAR DOOR ALERT SYSTEM ON AND OFF 1. Use the scroll wheel or arrow buttons on the steering wheel to navigate to Settings in the vehicle information display. 2. Highlight and select Vehicle Settings. 3. Highlight and select Rear Door Alert. To turn the system ON: Highlight and select one of the following options: Figure 1 o Horn & Alert: The horn will sound and an alert/message will display in the vehicle information display. Figure 3 REAR DOOR ALERT OPERATION NOTE: For the rear door alert system to function, it must be turned ON in Vehicle Settings. Conditions when the rear door alert will be activated: The rear door alert system is activated when the vehicle is driven within approximately 10 minutes of opening a rear door. o Once the system is activated, the horn will sound (if selected) and the vehicle information display alert/message will display on every trip unless deactivated by one of the two methods: The driver opens a rear door within a short period of time after arriving at a destination. Disable Alert is selected in the vehicle information display (Figure 3). Conditions when the rear door alert will not be activated: If one of the rear doors is used, but the vehicle is not driven within approximately 10 minutes, the system will not be activated. 3/4 NTB20-052B Exiting the vehicle with the rear door alert activated When the driver exits the vehicle after arriving at a destination, a rear door must be opened within a short time to deactivate the alert.
