SERVICE INFORMATION BULLETIN APPLICABILITY: 2020MY Legacy and Outback 2020MY Crosstrek 2022MY Forester Wilderness SUBJECT: NUMBER: 16-125-19R DATE: 10/21/19 REVISED: 02/03/22 CVT Oil Pan- Design Change INTRODUCTION: This Service Information Bulletin outlines design changes made to the TR580 CVT oil pan assembly. The changes are as follows: • The CVT oil pan material has been changed from steel to aluminum. • The new aluminum pan has a new, larger diameter drain plug and drain plug gasket. • The new aluminum pan will be sold as a set consisting of: oil pan, drain plug and drain plug gasket. • The bolts used to secure the pan to the case are now a flanged type instead of lock-washer type and are reusable. VERY IMPORTANT: • The new oil pan assembly comes with a new drain plug and drain plug gasket but, the new drain plug is only hand-tightened. When replacing the pan, confirm the drain plug is lubricated with CVT fluid and properly torqued to specification: 47 Nm (34.7 ft. lbs.). • Whenever removing the transmission assembly, it is CRITICAL to not allow the support plates of the transmission jack to contact (and potentially damage) the aluminum oil pan. These new parts were incorporated at the start of 2022MY Forester Wilderness production.
