Overview of Approved Porsche A40 Engine Oils (05/22)
Information
The period of validity for the approved engine oil is between 2 and 3 years. The expiration date of the
approval is given in the last column in the list.
Once this validity period has elapsed, the approval in question is revoked unless an extension is
requested by the relevant manufacturer.
Revision:
This bulletin replaces bulletin Group 1 99/21, dated November 2, 2021.
Model Year:
As of 1984 up to 2020
Vehicle Type:
All Porsche vehicles, up to and including MY 2020, for which Porsche A40 engine oils are
allocated.
Note: Porsche offers special Classic oils for Porsche Classic vehicles (manufactured between
1948 and 2005). The individual products are listed in the Manufacturer's Certificate "Recommended engine oils for Classic vehicles". Porsche recommends that you use Classic oils for
Classic vehicles.

All engine oils approved by Porsche can be mixed provided they are of the same Porsche oil
specification. This means that it is not necessary to flush the engine when the oil is changed if another
type of oil is used. However, since each oil brand has a specially matched composition, an oil of the same
brand and grade should be used where possible when topping up between oil change intervals.
Important Notice: Technical Bulletins issued by Porsche Cars North America, Inc. are intended only for use by professional automotive technicians who have attended Porsche service training
courses. They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some Porsche vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper servicing of a vehicle. Porsche special
tools may be necessary in order to perform certain operations identified in these bulletins. Use of tools and procedures other than those Porsche recommends in these bulletins may be detrimental to the
