Service Technical Information 180/21 ENU WMM7 9 WMM7 - Replacing VTS Control Unit (Workshop Campaign) Revision: This bulletin replaces bulletin Group 9 180/21 WMM7, dated November 23, 2021. Model Year: As of 2014 up to 2021 Model Line: Panamera (970) Panamera (971) 911 (991) Boxster/Cayman (982) 918 Cayenne (92A) Macan (95B) Concerns: VTS control unit Situation: The VTS control unit used in the affected vehicles only supports the GSM/UMTS or 2G/3G mobile phone standard. Due to the planned deactivation of these mobile phone standards in the North American region, the following Connect services together with the old VTS control unit will no longer be available as of Spring 2022: • eCall System • Breakdown Call • VTS (Vehicle Tracking System) • Connect app Action required: Replace the VTS control unit with a VTS control unit that is compatible with the 4G mobile phone standard. Affected vehicles: Only vehicles assigned to the campaign (see also PCSS Vehicle Information). Ensure the PVTS CU has sufficient mobile (GSM) and satellite (GPS) reception. Note: the PVTS CU contains an embedded SIM card and Vodafone manages data connection for service to this CU. No plug-in SIM is required to perform this update. To perform the update on a vehicle that does not have a customer contract set up, activate the vehicle using the dealership demo account. Perform the update as directed below, then remove the vehicle from the demo account. Activating the vehicle via the demo account allows this update without starting the customer’s free trial period of Porsche Car Connect b. Access the Porsche Partner Network (PPN) --> Online Systems --> Porsche Car Connect (Online Support) c. Select “Device repair” 1 Device Repair Markup -1d. Enter the VIN 1 Device Repair Markup -2- and click “Search” 1 Device Repair Markup -3-. Vehicle information and settings are displayed.Note: If the error message, “This device is not eligible to the repair process” is displayed, please verify the VIN entered is correct and retry the Search function several times.
