Information: Beginning in December 2021, certain 2022 MY passenger car, crossover, SUV, and Truck models will be produced without the Heated Steering Wheel module. Some vehicles will be produced without the heated steering wheel switch, while some vehicles will be produced with heated steering wheel switch in place. For vehicles with the heated steering wheel switch in place, this switch may illuminate if depressed, but will not operate as the heated steering wheel feature is not available. Calibrations have been changed for the heated steering wheel function not being available. Version 1 Modified Released March 04, 2022. Vehicle models which are produced without Heated Steering Wheel function will be identified by including RPO: 00G (Not Equipped with Heated Steering Wheel), along with RPO: KI3 or UVD as equipped. Considerations for diagnosing electrical wiring concerns: System components related to Heated Steering Wheel (KI3 or UVD), will be unchanged in vehicles equipped with RPO: 00G, along with RPO: KI3 or UVD as equipped, with exception of the Heated Steering Wheel Control Module, and for some vehicles the Heated Steering Wheel Switch. When diagnosing and repairing concerns with electrical function which may be related to the Heated Steering Wheel hardware; utilize appropriate diagnostics within SI and replace any needed components as directed by the Electronic Parts Catalog. Important: Vehicles designated with RPO: 00G are planned to have a future update to enable the Heated Steering Wheel feature. Do Not attempt to enable this content apart from official direction for retrofit. GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition.
