Document Information
Location: Electrical
Topic: 12V Battery Unable to Charge (12V Battery in UVP mode)
Condition: Permanent
Diagnostic Trouble Codes: N/A
Measure
If a vehicle’s 12V battery is unable to charge there is the possibility that it has entered UVP state
(Under Voltage Protection). In this state the battery’s internal relay has opened and therefore
the battery Voltage measures approximately 0V. In this state the vehicle will have no power and
all systems will be inoperable.
Please carry out the following procedure to recover it:
1. Setup the ‘SUPPLYMENU’ of the Deutronic charger to output 14.8V and 40Amps max
2. Select ‘SUPPLYMODE’
3. Connect the Deutronic charger to the vehicle
4. Start charging the battery (at this point the vehicle electronics will power up as they are
supplied by the Deutronic)
5. After approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute, the battery will close its internal relay
(audible click from the relay) and start accepting charging current
6. Continue charging in this setup for at least 60 minutes
7. Switch the Deutronic to ‘CHARGEMODE’ and allow the battery to charge completely
