Module (ECM).
• P11D5
• P20EE
Cause
This condition may be caused by a software anomaly.
Correction
Engineering has seen vehicles with unusual NOx sensor learn values. This happens only
on new vehicles under 10,000 miles (16,000 km). This may be the result of the vehicle
being new and being driven in changing altitude and/or humidity.
If:
• If the vehicle has less than 10,000 miles (16,000 km).
• This is the first time that the vehicle has set one of these codes.
• These are the only codes.
There is a high likelihood that the NOx sensor learns are corrupt.
– If this is NOT the first time that this vehicle set one of these codes, refer to SI.
– If this is the first time that this vehicle set one of these codes, refer to the Service
Procedure below.
Service Procedure
Procedure to reset NOx learns:
1. Document any codes that are in the ECM.
2. Clear the codes in the ECM
3. Using GDS2, perform a NOx sensor 1 reset and a
NOx sensor 2 reset.
4. Perform a Reductant System Malfunction Warning
Service Bay test.
• If the test passes, there is a high likelihood that
the NOx sensors learned incorrectly in the new
exhaust system. Do not replace any parts, the
learns should work correctly from now on.

• If the test fails, refer to SI diagnostics for the
code set in the vehicle.
• If the test times out, this is likely due to an
overloaded NOx catalytic converter. Please
perform a Service Regeneration followed by a
Reductant System Malfunction Warning Service
Bay test.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a
job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the
information.
