Technical background
In the event the issue is as described the operative should conduct the instructions within the Measure section of this TPI
Production change
-
Measure
1) Inspect the rear wheel steering control unit /J1019 (rear steering rack) for signs of the following:
•
Damage
•
Contamination
•
Excessive wear
2) Referring to the applicable wiring diagram, conduct an electrical integrity check for the rear wheel steering control unit /J1019 (rear steering
rack)
•
Refer to the applicable wiring diagram - Check earth point 710 for Cleanliness, security and integrity
•
If no faults were identified after conducting the wiring integrity checks - Refer to Rep.Gr 48 - Replace the rear wheel steering control unit
/J1019 (rear steering rack)
Within the rear axle steering rack procedure there are single use items which must be replaced and not reused. Ensure that new
replacements are available prior to starting this procedure - Refer to the ETKA parts catalogue
3) Refer to Rep.Gr 44 - Check and adjust the suspension and steering geometry
4) Once the wheel alignment has been carried out, where fitted the following "Bentley Safeguard" systems MUST be recalibrated:
•
Automatic cruise control
•
Night vision
•
Front camera for driver assist systems
•
Rear radar
•
Top view/rear view camera (Specification dependant)
•
Matrix headlights (Specification dependant)
5) Conduct a road test to confirm the issue is resolved
IMPORTANT: Failure to carry out these adjustments will lead to erratic operation of the driver assist systems
6) Raise a non technical DISS query confirming the instructions within this TPI have been conducted successfully and issue is now resolved after
replacing the rear wheel steering control unit /J1019 (rear steering rack)
