Condition
Some customers may comment on having one of the following conditions:
• Fuel door does not open
• Fuel door tappet falls out of the hinge
6003725
Cause
6014256
This condition may be caused by the tappet, as shown in the picture above (tappet and
rubber boot) (1), becomes detached making the tappet loose in the housing hinge (2)
misaligning the tappet to the lock actuator or the tappet is no longer retained to the hinge
(missing tappet). The misalignment of the tappet to the lock actuator could cause the fuel
door to not operate correctly and in some cases damage the lock actuator or lock
actuator mount (3), shown in the picture above. A missing tappet boot may also cause the
tappet to become detached to the hinge as the boot is part of the secure attachment of
the tappet to the hinge.
Correction
If the tappet or boot is missing, replace the tappet following the procedure below.
Note: Replace the fuel door if it is damaged, new fuel door comes with the tappet.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a
job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the
information.
