A rattle-type noise from the instrument panel area when at a stop, or when first accelerating
from a stop.
ACTION
1.
Inspect the heater hose clamp orientation to ensure the clamps are not contacting
each other.
2.
If needed, add foam to the heater core pipes to insulate them from the heater core
cover.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Open the hood.
2.
Inspect the orientation of the heater
hose clamps (Figure 1 and Figure 2).


If the tabs on the heater hose
clamps are not touching each
other, continue to step 3.

If the tabs on the heater hose
clamps are touching each other,
rotate the hose clamps as needed
to prevent contact between the
clamps.

o Retest for the rattle.

Remove the instrument side panel LH
from the center console (Figure 3).


4.
Lightly press on the heater core cover
while duplicating the conditions
needed for the rattle to occur.

If the rattle is not present when
lightly pressing on the heater core
cover, continue to step 5.

If the rattle is still present when
lightly pressing on the heater core
cover, this bulletin does not apply.
Refer to the ESM for further
diagnostic and repair information.

Remove the three (3) heater core
cover screws and set the heater core
cover aside (Figure 5).

7.
Reinstall the heater core cover using
the three (3) screws (Figure 9).

Reinstall the instrument side panel LH.
