Service
Confirm that the Condition matches, then check the air mass meter as follows:
For A4, A5, and A5 cabriolet vehicles produced before week 25/2012 and for Q5 vehicles produced before
week 10/2013:
1. Remove the connector of the air mass meter.
2. With the connector removed, perform a test drive under the same circumstances at which the complaint
occurred. Check whether the complaint persists:
• If it does, do not replace the air mass meter as the cause lies elsewhere. Investigate other possible causes,
such as air leaks in the air intake system, a dirty or incorrectly-fitted air filter element, incorrectly slotted-in
hoses on the air intake system, etc.
• If the complaint does not persist, replace the air mass meter.

10/2013, and all other vehicles:

Note:
For all vehicles:
If an event entry is stored in the ECM, do not proceed as outlined above. Use guided fault finding (GFF) to
diagnose the issue.
If event entries on the throttle valve angle, the intake air temperature sensor, or the charge pressure sensor are
included in the ECM, resolve them before checking the air mass meter.
