Overview
Volta has identified a scenario in which Volta Touchscreens require a programming
correction. Symptoms include the touchscreen not waking from sleep or repeated restarts
required to refresh data. To resolve the issue, Volta is supplying these instructions and
programming tools to provide you with the latest software to perform this update.

this document. If you believe you have received this document in error, please contact

Please read this document in its entirety before performing any actions.
If you are not comfortable performing any of the actions included in this document,

To perform these instructions, you need basic hand tools, such as screw drivers and wrenches.

Instructions:
Perform the following instructions to connect a supplied programming tool to a port on the
back of the Volta Touchscreen.
1. Disconnect your vehicle from shore power.
2. Turn off the vehicle.
3. Turn off the Volta System. Ensure the LED on the pushbutton and the touchscreen are
off.
4. Remove the interior panel (refer to figure 1.0):
a. Remove the (6) screws (A) located on the perimeter of the interior panel.
b. Use care when removing the interior panel. Pull outward slightly from the top of
the interior panel, then rotate out from behind the B-pillar panel (D). This allows
access to the wire harness connection to the Volta pushbutton (C). Before the
interior panel can be completely removed, the harness (F in figure 2.0 on
following page) must be disconnected from the pushbutton. Press down the
latch on the connector and gently separate to disconnect the wire harness from
the pushbutton.
c. After the wire harness is disconnected from the pushbutton, fully remove the
interior panel and set aside.

5. Loosen and remove the (4) bolts with washers (E) on the touchscreen bracket (refer to
figure 2.0). Support the touchscreen while removing the bolts to avoid dropping the
touchscreen. Set the bolts and washers aside.

6. With the touchscreen and bracket removed, locate the USB port (refer to G on figure
3.0) on the back of the touchscreen. Twist to remove the port cap. The correct port is
identified by a “USB” symbol.

7. Ensure the switch (J in figure 5.0) on the programming tool (K in figure 5.0) is in the “O”
position.

8. Connect the attached cable (L in figure 5.0) on the programming tool to the port on
the touchscreen. The orientation of the connections must be exact. Pay close attention
to the prongs and key on the connections. Refer to the port diagram (figure 4.0) and
the connector (figure 4.1). Do not force the connection. When the connections are
engaged in the proper orientation, twist to tighten.

9. Perform programming steps (refer to figure 5.0 on the following page):
a. Flip the switch on the programming tool to the “|” position.
b. Monitor the (2) LEDs (H and I) on the programming tool. After a few seconds,
and when the upper LED (H) is solid green and the lower LED (I) is flashing
green, the system checks are successful. Proceed to the next step.
c. Reconnect the pushbutton harness to the pushbutton located on the previously
removed interior panel. You should hear a click when the connector is seated
properly
d. Turn on the Volta System using the pushbutton.
e. After approximately 90 seconds, a “Download Mode” message and a progress
bar appears on the touchscreen. If the “Download Mode” message does not
appear after approximately three minutes, a “Download Failed!” message
appears, or if the bottom LED on the programming tool turns off, you must
restart the programming process. To restart, turn off the Volta System, switch off
the programming tool, then return to step 9-a.
f.
Do not turn off or disconnect the Volta System or the programming tool during
Download Mode. Programming may take up to 10 minutes.
g. “Download Complete” appears on the touchscreen when the programming
process is complete.
h. Turn off the Volta System.

Switch off the programming tool.
j.
Disconnect the programming tool from the touchscreen and replace the cap on
the touchscreen port.
k. Programming is now complete.

10. Reassemble the touchscreen bracket.
a. If necessary, disconnect the Volta pushbutton for easier access during
reassembly.
b. Reinstall the (4) bolts and washers (refer to E in figure 2.0) on the touchscreen
bracket. Do not fully tighten bolts until all (4) are in position. Hand tighten. Do
not over tighten.
c. Reconnect the wire harness to the Volta pushbutton, then reinstall the interior
panel and secure with (6) screws. Hand tighten the screws and do not over
tighten.
11. Return the programming tool to the original packaging, apply the label to the
package, and mail the package back to Volta from any USPS location.

Changing the Touchscreen Theme:
Reprogramming the touchscreen may update some of the touchscreen’s default settings. For
example, after the update, you may notice the touchscreen “theme” has changed from Dark
to Light.
To adjust the theme:
1. Press the Volta Pushbutton to turn on the Volta System.
2. Touch the Settings button on the touchscreen (refer to figure 6.0).

3. In the settings screen, scroll to the Theme setting and toggle between Light or Dark
theme (refer to figure 7.0). Press the Home button to return to the Home screen.
