Cause The exact cause of this is still under investigation but replaced knock sensors have not tested bad. Correction: At this time, instead of replacing the knock sensor please do following. 1) Disconnect knock sensor electrical connector (do not skip this step as connector needs to be cycled at least once). 2) Remove the knock sensor bolt. 3) Check for block ashing (excessive block material or plastic from the sensor) near knock sensor boss which contacts knock sensor black plastic. 4) If block ashing exists then: a) Open TAC case and send pictures to TAC case of block ashing and sensor. b) Remove block ashing to prevent it from contacting knock sensor black plastic (no part of block should contact knock sensor black plastic). c) Replace knock sensor. 5) If block ashing does not exist then: a) Re-install knock sensor with bolt torque 25 +/- 4 Nm. b) Re-connect connector. 6) Reevaluate vehicle and ensure code runs and passes. This PI will be updated or changed to a bulletin when the engineering investigation is completed.
