Code All 2012–2016 All All This Tech Tip provides an overview of vehicle four wheel alignment, and important steps that should be followed when performing four wheel alignments. Note: Email a scanned copy of the before and after alignment measurements to [email protected], and file the printed copy with the Repair Order. If a Volkswagen Technical Assistance (VTA) ticket was opened, the alignment before and after measurements should be attached, before the VTA is closed. This is required for all alignment check or repairs performed under warranty. Model(s) Year Eng. Code Trans. Code All 2012–2016 All All This Tech Tip was established to explain the influence the adjustable steering column tilt position has on the steering wheel being off center and to provide information on checking for steering wheel off center. Influence of the Steering Column Tilt Position Due to the design of the adjustable steering column, a level steering wheel can vary up to 2.4 degrees in total from the level position depending on the tilt adjustment of the steering column. In the full up steering column tilt position, the steering wheel is set approximately 1.2 degrees off center to the right and accordingly, 1.2 degrees to the left in the full down tilt position. When the steering column is in the center tilt position the steering wheel is level. When checking if the steering wheel is level (centered), make sure that the steering column adjustment is in the center tilt position. If the steering wheel is off center when the steering column is in the center tilt position, perform vehicle four wheel alignment to correct the steering wheel level position. See TT 44 13 03 – Four Wheel Alignments. Note: DO NOT remove the steering wheel from the steering column to correct steering wheel off center. 96-14-05 Immobilizer Key/Key Remote Adaptation Model(s) Year Eng. Code Trans. Code Golf, GTI 2015–2016 All All To adapt keys to a 2015 Golf or Golf GTI, it is necessary to complete the “Adapt Immobilizer” test plan. Kessy Vehicles: Verify that the reader coil (figure 1) is removed from the steering column and the key is touching the reader coil during key adaptation. Bladed key vehicle, it is not necessary to remove the reader coil. The test plan can be found under the ODIS Special Functions Tab (figure 2) or by navigating to “Immobilizer functions” under “Elect. Immobilizer 5A” after clicking the “Select self-test” button in the Test Plan tab (figure 3). This procedure adapts both the remote and immobilizer functions of the key. Note: Vehicle may not start and or have warning lights on cluster after immobilizer / key adaptation is completed. See pg. 5 information in this tech tips after immobilizer / key adaptation for further instructions. Campaigns No new campaigns this week. Updates No new updates this week.
