The device will still charge, but will not play audio. This condition does not affect Bluetooth operation. The message “iPod Error” may also be displayed on the MIB Infotainment Display. Technical Background This procedure corrects the concern listed above by enabling the MDI function in the 5F Information Electronics Module. Production Solution Not applicable. Technical Bulletin Service Procedure: Connect a Volkswagen approved battery charger/maintainer to the vehicle’s 12 volt battery. Switch the ignition to the ON position. Switch ON the MIB radio. Connect the diagnostic tester and enter Guided Fault Finding (GFF) by clicking Start Diagnosis. Allow GFF to complete the interrogation of the Control Modules. Once the interrogation of the Control Modules is complete, scroll down and select the Information Electronics Module 5F. Right click and select “Control Module OBD”. Select “Coding”. Once the coding menu opens, scroll down to locate the Parameter [LO]_byte_8_AUX_IN. If this parameter’s current value is OFF, switch it to ON. Page 2 of 6 © 2016 Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. Technical Bulletin To change this parameter’s value, double click in the open field immediately to the right of the parameter value in the “Entry” column and switch the value from OFF to ON. Next, click the “Apply” button at the lower left hand portion of the ODIS screen. Click “Yes”. Click “Ok”. The MDI should now be enabled and audio output from the device should take place. Technical Bulletin Tip: After the parameter value has been changed, the DTC U101400 - Control module incorrectly coded - may be present.
