The carpeting is wet causing an unpleasant odor in the cabin.
Workshop findings:
A missing body plug is discovered in the plenum chamber bulkhead causing water intrusion.
Technical Background
The plenum chamber bulkhead provides an opening
for a vacuum line on all A8 models (Figures 1 and
2). For A8 TFSI e PHEV models this opening is not
used. In the production process of an A8 TFSI e
PHEV model, a body plug was to be installed to close
off this opening. The body plug may not have been
installed in this opening on A8 TFSI e PHEV models
only.

Production Solution
The production process has been corrected to prevent the omission of this body plug on A8 TFSI e PHEV models.
Service
Remove the speed nut for the heat shield on the
plenum chamber bulkhead and loosen the heat
shield to provide access to this opening. Install body
plug 4N0 611 817 A in this opening (Figure 3).
