Service Bulletin Bulletin No.: 21-NA-041 Date: July, 2022 TECHNICAL Subject: Intermittent Shift Flare 2-3 or 3-4 While Driving Brand: Model: Chevrolet Holden Model Year: VIN: Engine: Transmission: 2022 LYX MNH 2020 - - from to Equinox 2018 Equinox 2018 from to Involved Region or Country North America, Middle East, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, GM Korea Company, China, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt and Africa. Condition Some customers may comment on an intermittent shift flare 2-3 or 3-4 while driving. Some technicians may find during diagnosis, the 2-3 or 3-4 shift flare only occurs during the first shift event after an extended vehicle shut down (4 hours). Cause If SI diagnostics are not able to find the cause of the concern and the transmission fluid level is good, not distressed or shows signs of metal. This condition may be caused by the clutch, has not completed learning its proper fill capacity. Correction This condition may be corrected by warming up the transmission to operating temp. and driving the vehicle for 15 continuous minutes in 3rd gear. This would allow the clutch to learn its proper fill value. If this was not successful or if conditions may not allow the 15 continuous minute drive in 3rd gear, then the technician should duplicate the condition while recording the event with GDS. U.S. dealers should then open a TAC case through the portal and attach the session log to the case and wait for direction from TAC. Canadian dealers should first email the GDS2 session log to Canadian TAC (refer to PIP4902 for procedure), and then place a call to TAC. Important: Service agents must comply with all International, Federal, State, Provincial, and/or Local laws applicable to the activities it performs under this bulletin, including but not limited to handling, deploying, preparing, classifying, packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping dangerous goods. GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition.
