SUBJECT: Creak/Rattle Noise Heard From Front Suspension OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves installing a protective sleeve in the front coil springs suspension. MODELS: 2015-2017 (B1) Jeep Renegade (Brazil) NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: LATAM. NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before July 26, 2017 (MDH 0726XX). SYMPTOM/CONDITION: The customer may notice a creaking or rattle noise from the front of the vehicle while driving over bumps or rough roads. DIAGNOSIS: If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform Step 1 of the Diagnostic Procedure. 1. Test drive the vehicle to verify the complaint. 2. Is a creaking or rattle noise heard from the front suspension strut area? • YES>>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure. • NO>>> This bulletin does not apply. Normal diagnosis should be performed. PARTS REQUIRED: Qty. 2 Part No. 68415377AA (Mopar) 7090871 (LATAM) Description Sleeve 02-009-17 -2- REPAIR PROCEDURE: WARNING! Review all warnings and cautions before proceeding. Refer to the detailed information available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 02 - Front Suspension> Front> Warning. 1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: 04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting/Standard Procedure. 2. Remove the front wheels. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: 22 - Tires and Wheels/Removal. 3. Remove the front strut assemblies from the vehicle and disassemble. Refer to the detailed repair procedures available in: DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 02 Front Suspension/Front/Strut, Suspension, Assembly/Removal. 4. Carefully hold the coil spring in a bench vise, protecting the coil spring properly to avoid any coil spring damage. 5. Thoroughly clean the upper part of the coil spring, using isopropyl-alcohol and a clean cloth. 6. Install the sleeve on the upper coil link of the both coil springs, with the help of neutral soap, until the sleeve edge be flush with coil spring edge (Fig. 1) . NOTE: Ensure the length of the sleeve is 270 mm (10.6 in). Fig. 1 Sleeve Position on Front Coil Spring 1 - Sleeve 2 - Coil Spring 7. Assemble the front strut and install the front strut assemblies to the vehicle. Install the front wheels. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: 22 - Tires and Wheels/Installation. -3- 02-009-17 9. Lower the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: 04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting/Standard Procedure. 10. Perform front wheel alignment. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 02 - Front Suspension/Wheel Alignment>Front Wheel Alignment.
