Condition
• Customer may report that the check engine light comes on intermittently.
• DTC P310B00 DFC 2638 (Low fuel pressure regulation fuel pressure outside specification) is stored in the
engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 01).
Technical Background
The DTC is caused by conflicting tolerances of the fuel pump at idle speed/part load.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
1. Check the low pressure fuel pump duty cycle using ECM MVB “Fuel pump, specified value” with the engine at
idle speed.
2. If the value is 25.5% or lower (closer to 0%) at idle speed, replace the low pressure fuel pump.
3. After replacement, clear all ECM faults.
4. Check ECM MVB “Fuel pump, specified value” with the engine at idle speed, it should now be higher than
25.5%.
