Technical Background
Because of exhaust gas pulsations, the wastegate flap and rods vibrate at the start of the boost air control. This
vibration causes rattling or jarring noises.

Service
A spring clip (06J145220A) must be fitted on the wastegate
adjustment (Figure 1).

On vehicles with front wheel drive:
1.
Remove the noise damping according to the instructions in Elsa: Repair Manual >> Body >> Body Exterior
>> 50 Body Front >> Removal and Installation >> Noise Insulation.
2.
Remove the drive shaft protection.
3.
Fit the clip from the side (Figure 2).

Turn the clip to the left until the lugs slot in (Figure 3).

1.
Remove the propshaft heat shield according to the instructions in Elsa: Repair Manual >> Body >> 66
Exterior Equipment >> Removal and Installation >> Underbody Trim Panels >>Heat Shields, Driveshaft
2.
Reach through from behind to position the clip (Figure 4).

Fit the spring clip on the wastegate adjustment (Figure 5).

Tip: The spring tip must not be overstretched. The
maximum opening of the spring clip is 14 mm. In the
example in the image, the opening is approximately 10.5
mm (Figure 6).
The spring clip must be replaced after every removal.

After fitting the spring clip, check for correct fit (Figure 7).

Check the position of the original circlip (Figure 8), and
correct if necessary.
