Bulletin No.: Service Bulletin Date: 22-NA-219 November, 2022 INFORMATION Subject: Information on Turn Signal Lenses Cracking Brand: Model: Chevrolet Low Cab Forward (LCF) 3500, 4500, 4500 HD, 4500 XD, 5500 HD, 5500 XD, 6500 XD, 7500 XD Model Year: from to 2016 2023 VIN: from to Engine: Transmission: Involved Region or Country North America Condition Some customers may comment that the front turn signal lenses are cracking/cracked. Cause These lenses are cracking from the effects of being washed with alkaline detergents. Alkaline detergents are typically used in industrial settings and are reactive with the paint, metals, and other materials used to make up the exterior components of General Motors LCF (Low Cab Forward) vehicles. Correction It is recommending that only neutral detergents be used when washing Chevrolet LCF vehicles. Service Procedure Important: Service agents must comply with all International, Federal, State, Provincial, and/or Local laws applicable to the activities it performs under this bulletin, including but not limited to handling, deploying, preparing, classifying, packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping dangerous goods. In the event of a conflict between the procedures set forth in this bulletin and the laws that apply to your dealership, you must follow those applicable laws. 6181837 Copyright 2022 General Motors LLC. Page 2 November, 2022 Bulletin No.: 22-NA-219 6181838 If alkaline detergents are used to wash a Chevrolet LCF vehicle, it is crucial that all traces of the detergent are rinsed away with water or wiped off as necessary. Allowing alkaline detergent to dry on the turn signal lenses will cause them to crack. Refer to the Owner’s Manual guidelines for the proper exterior maintenance of the vehicle. Important: Ensure that all detergent is fully washed and wiped away. Particularly in the case of strong alkaline detergents (typically those for industrial uses), there is a danger that hairline cracks can develop in lighting clusters lenses if the vehicle is operated without detergent being fully wiped away. Always read the detergent manufacturing instructions carefully before use. Parts Information No parts are required for this repair. Version 1 Modified Released October 31, 2022 GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information. WE SUPPORT VOLUNTARY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION
