Technical Service Bulletin Service If an oil leak has been identified from the transmission, check the following: 1. Check if the leak is coming from the ATF cooler adaptor. This can be missed as a leak source due to the location of the adaptor: • The ATF cooler adaptor is located on the top of the transmission housing near the mating surface of the bellhousing and the engine (Figure 1, Position 1). • If necessary to confirm the leak location, clean and remove all oil residue from the transmission and allow the surface to dry. Confirm the exact location of the leak by applying oil leak tracing powder to the suspected areas of the leak. Do not use oil dyes in any Audi transmission. Figure 1. ATF cooler adaptor placement. 2. If the leak is not from the ATF cooler adaptor, this TSB does not apply and you should continue your diagnosis. 3. If the leak has been confirmed from the ATF cooler adaptor, replace the ATF cooler adaptor with seals per Elsa at repair manual, Drivetrain >> 8-Speed Automatic Transmission 09P >> 37 Controls, Housing >> ATF Circuit >> ATF Cooler Adaptor, Removing and Installing.
