TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN Various Charging System Concerns - GENVDSD PID Missing From The PCM PID List In The FDRS 22-2471 05 December 2022 This bulletin supersedes 21-2205. Model: Ford 2021-2022 F-150 Engine: 2.7L EcoBoost Engine: 3.5L EcoBoost Engine: 5.0L 2020-2022 Transit Engine: 3.5L EcoBoost Summary This article supersedes TSB 21-2205 to update the vehicles and vehicle model years affected. Issue: 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles with 2.7L, 3.5L EcoBoost or 5.0L engines, 2020-2022 Transit vehicles with 3.5L EcoBoost engine having charging system diagnostics performed in the Workshop Manual (WSM) may experience the generator voltage desired (GENVDSD) parameter identification (PID) missing from the powertrain control module (PCM) PID list in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). This may be due to a software parameter in the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM. Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • One of the following vehicles: - 2021-2022 F-150 with 2.7L EcoBoost, 3.5L EcoBoost or 5.0L engine - 2020-2022 Transit with 3.5L EcoBoost engine • GENVDSD PID missing from the PCM PID list in FDRS Warranty Status: Eligible under provisions of New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW)/Service Part Warranty (SPW)/Special Service Part (SSP)/Extended Service Plan (ESP) coverage. Limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. NVLW/SPW/SSP/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool. Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: RECAL Condition Code: 04 Service Procedure 1. Reprogram the PCM using the latest software level of the FDRS scan tool. NOTE: Advise the customer this vehicle is equipped with an adaptive transmission shift strategy which allows the vehicle's computer to learn the transmission's unique parameters and improve shift quality. When the adaptive strategy is reset, the computer will begin a relearning process.
