Case Number: S2108000172 Release Date: July 2021 Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Stop Start Feature Is Inoperative, MIL Lamp On, Hood Switch DTC’s Customer Complaint/Technician Observation: MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is on and the ESS (Electric Start Stop) function is not operating. Technician observed the vehicle has set battery related codes and DTC’S P152E -ENGINE HOOD SWITCH 2 CIRCUIT HIGH, P152F ENGINE HOOD SWITCH 2 / ENGINE HOOD SWITCH 1 CORRELATION. Repair Procedure: If the vehicle is setting battery related DTC’s with the above hood switch DTC’s, work through the diagnostics procedures for any battery related DTC’s prior to the service diagnostic procedures for hood switch DTC’s. Test the vehicles operation once the battery related DTC’s have been repaired. The hood switch voltage ranges are based on a nominal reference voltage of 13.5 volts. The counts and percentage of Battery voltage will remain constant, but the signal voltage will vary as actual Battery voltage changes. If no battery related DTC’s or voltage concerns noted, continue with the normal diagnostics for the active or stored hood switch DTC’s. This document does not authorize warranty repairs.
