Symptom/Vehicle Issue: The customer’s complaint includes a Mil/check engine
lamp-on condition. Upon further investigation, a P1CEA - Boost Side Evap Purge
System Performance DTC may be set in the PCM with no other DTCs set.
Discussion: Before performing the published diagnostic procedure for the DTC
mentioned above, perform the following inspection:
Using a borescope, inspect the Ejector Tee contained in the clean air duct (in the
indicated area shown in Fig. 1) for any material that could be restricting flow (see Fig. 2
on P. 2 for examples).

If excessive material is found as seen in the example above, replace the component
and make sure to keep the part to return for analysis. Please follow the regular part
return process. After the repair has been completed, make sure to clear DTCs and
test drive the vehicle. If DTC comes back, or there was no excessive material found
upon initial inspection, perform the published diagnostic procedure for the DTC
mentioned above.
