Introduction
Some 2019 – 2023 model year RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a squeal/squeak
noise from the front brakes with light to moderate braking. Follow the Repair Procedure in this
bulletin to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
 This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months
or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
 Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in
this bulletin.

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the condition exists.
Does the vehicle exhibit a squeal/squeak noise from the front brakes with light to
moderate braking?

YES — Continue to step 2.

NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Replace BOTH front anti-squeal shim kits.
A. Remove BOTH front anti-squeal shim kits.
Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022 / 2023 RAV4:
General – Maintenance – “Maintenance: Front Disc Brake Pad: Removal”
 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022 / 2023 RAV4 HV:
General – Maintenance – “Maintenance: Front Disc Brake Pad: Removal”
B. Install a NEW front anti-squeal shim kit for each front side.
NOTE
The grease should NOT leak out from the sides of the shims when assembled.

3. Test-drive the vehicle and brake at low speeds to confirm the vehicle no longer exhibits a
squeal/squeak noise.
