Technical Background ID4 vehicles are equipped with an electronic rotary latch which allows the doors to be opened with minimal effort. When the system identifies a request to open the door, the central locking motor activates the rotary latch so that the door is opened electronically by approx. 1 cm. The proper operation of the interior door release handle includes pulling on the interior door release handle until the “soft stop” is reached and the door pops open approximately 1 cm, at the same time pressure needs to be applied to the door for it to open. If no force is applied to the door the rotary latch will reengage and latch the door due to safety. Service This is normal door release operation and no adjustment should be performed to the door latch or striker. Please advise the customer to refer to the owner manual section “Opening the door”.
