Condition
Some customers may comment on a SES MIL and a Service Theft Deterrent
System message displayed in the DIC. When checking for DTC's, any of the following
DTC's may be set: B113C, B13AC, B1AC3, B195D, B195E, U3018 and/or U3501. Also,
fuse F49DR in the right IP fuse block will be open.
Cause
One possible cause of this condition is a short in the 12 volt power accessory
illuminated ring. The 12 volt power accessory ports X80G or X80H have a LED
illuminated ring around the perimeter (1), shown below. The LED illuminated ring is
part of the 12 volt accessory port receptacle retainer, see 2nd photo. The 12 volt
accessory port receptacle retainer has two contact tabs for the LED illuminated
ring (2 and 3) which mate to the 12 volt accessory port receptacle (5 and 6), see 3rd
photo. Tab 2 is for the power to the LED illuminated ring circuit 6817 and tab 3 is
the ground which should only contact the outer metal body (6) of the 12 volt
accessory port receptacle. If tab 3 is improperly formed or gets bent during service,
it can short out between the metal body (6) and the slide contact (5) for tab 2, as
shown below in call out 4. Tab 3 should only contact the metal body of the 12 volt
accessory port receptacle (6).
Correction:
Following SI, remove the 12 volt power accessory port X80G or X80H and inspect grounding tab 3. If the tab is
shorting out between the metal body (6) and slide contact (5) for tab 2 then replace the 12 volt Accessory Power
Port Receptacle Retainer.
Note: After repairs are complete, some DTCs may not clear until the vehicle completely goes to sleep. Turn the
ignition o and disable RAP by opening and closing the driver’s door, then leave the vehicle undisturbed so it can
completely power down which may take up to 20 minutes.
