• Service has to be performed on the vehicle involving control module coding, adaption, or basic settings.
• Parts have been replaced, and the replacement test plan is performed.
Technical Background
MQB and MEB vehicles (A3/Q3/Q4) implement a feature called SFD (Vehicle Diagnostics Protection).
This feature secures the vehicle against unauthorized or malicious software manipulation.

Service
In order to service a vehicle with SFD (currently A3 (8Y), Q3 (F3 since MY2021), or Q4 (F4)), an ODIS login with
SFD privileges is required.
Please make sure that you are logged into your ODIS account when working on such a vehicle and that your
ODIS account has the correct SFD privileges.
If your ODIS account does not have SFD privileges, please contact your local IT support.
Working on a SFD enabled vehicle without being logged into your ODIS account, or without sufficient
SFD privileges may cause you to not be able to complete test plans. Further, when replacing parts and
running the replacement test plan, it may cause the new part to be irrevocably become unusable due to
it being locked against manipulation.
