This technical bulletin must be read in its entirety before attempting the service procedure.
The customer may complain that, at start up, a message that reads “Please have an inspection service
performed” appears in the instrument cluster display.

This complaint will only affect MY 21 and MY 22 ID.4 vehicles that have had the campaign 97FY update
completed previously. Additionally, only vehicles with mileage exceeding 40,721 (65,535 km) are
affected.
Technical Background
Performing the “Reset inspection service” test plan in Guided Fault Finding corrects the concern listed
above.

Service
Procedure
1. Connect Midtronics MTRMSP0702 battery maintainer/charger to the vehicle’s 12 volt battery.
2. Switch the ignition to the ON position.
3. Connect the ODIS tester to the vehicle’s Data Link Connector (DLC).
4. Initiate Guided Fault Findings (GFF) and allow the tester to complete interrogation of all modules.
5. Once GFF module interrogation is complete, click on the “Special Functions” tab.
6. Select “Reset inspection service”.

9. Once the test plan is completed, exit GFF.
Tip:
Once the test plan is completed correctly, a mileage value will no longer be present in the Service interval
in the MIB display.
