WNV7 - Activating Gateway Off-Road Function Control Unit (Workshop Campaign)
Important:
CRITICAL WARNING -This campaign includes steps where control unit(s) in the vehicle will be
programmed with the PIWIS Tester. The vehicle voltage must be maintained between 13.5 volts and 14.5
volts during this programming. Failure to maintain this voltage could result in damaged control unit(s).
Damage caused by inadequate voltage during programming is not a warrantable defect. The technician
must verify the actual vehicle voltage in the PIWIS Tester before starting the campaign and also document
the actual voltage on the repair order.

Concerns:
Activating off-road function
Cause:
There is no option to select the various offroad scenarios in the central computer (PCM) on the
affected vehicles.
As a result, customers cannot individually adapt their off-road mode according to the condition of the
ground.
Action required: Therefore, the off-road function must be activated on the affected vehicles.
Minimum requirement: Version 41.550.010

Work Procedure: 1
The basic procedure for control unit programming/enabling function is described in the Workshop
Manual  Workshop Manual 'Basic instructions and procedure for control unit programming using
the PIWIS Tester'.

Call up “Diagnostics” in the PIWIS start menu and then select “Additional menu” (F7).

Select “Enabling function” and confirm with “Next” (F12).

Select “Restore function enabling” and confirm with “Next” (F12).

Select the gateway control unit and confirm with “Next” (F12). Carry out the rest of the procedure
according to the PIWIS tester.

Check whether the off-road driving modes can be selected in the PCM.
