Upon diagnosis no codes will be found that seem to pertain to the steering system. Code P0128 -Engine Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature may be set. Cause If vehicle diagnostics determine that the ECM may be reading the coolant temperature incorrectly a "Service Steering Message" will be turned on to protect the steering gear in the event of an undetected overheat condition. Correction: Perform a vehicle wide DTC scan, If P0128 is found, diagnose and repair this code rst. Upon repair of the P0128 clear codes, drive the vehicle and see if the "Service Steering Message" returns. If P0128 is not found or if the message returns after resolving P0128 follow SI diagnostics.
