Condition
Some customers may comment on a thump, clunk, pop, or click type noise coming
from the front end. In some cases, the noise may be felt in the front
driver/passenger oor or brake pedal. The noise is typically heard once the vehicle
has been driven above 45 MPH, then coming to a stop, or releasing brake pedal
after a stop.
Cause
The cause of this noise could be something contacting the Active Grill Shutters as
they open and close.
Correction:
To help determine if the noise is from the Active Grill Shutters contacting something, perform the following. With
the shutters open, remove the fuse that powers the grill shutter actuator. Then test the vehicle and see if the
noise goes away. If the noise goes away remove the intake air splash shield to inspect the grill shutters for any
contact. Some known items that have been found contacting the shutters could be a mispositioned horn bracket,
an unsecured intake air duct, stones, ice, etc.
Warranty Information
The correction for this concern may be any one of several repairs described above. For vehicles repaired under
warranty, please use the appropriate warranty labor operation based on the actual cause and repair.
