SITUATION
Engine will crank but not start. There is no communication with the integrated fuel module (TFE) when
diagnosing with ITSA.
The following two fault codes will be stored in the DME:
032B43 - Low fuel pressure system, electric fuel pump: pressure value too low
CDA594 - Message (- 0x33E) missing, receiver DME, transmitter TFE
NOTE: More faults may be stored related to fuel pressure in addition to these faults
CAUSE
An unfavorable software application could cause the TFE to remain in “bootloader mode” during certain cold
start situations.
CORRECTION
New software for the TFE will be available in a future version of ISTA.
PROCEDURE
The interim procedure until the updated software is released, perform a battery reset by disconnecting and
reconnecting the power supply to the TFE to restore communication with the TFE.
Select one of the following three options:
Disconnect the 12 V vehicle battery (battery reset) with the Supporting voltage/Battery charger
disconnected;
Or
Unplug the fuse for the TFE control unit:
G07 (power distribution box rear, F228 fuse) (tailgate)
G70 (power distribution box rear, fuse F250) (trunk)
U11 (power distribution box front right, fuse F020) (front hood)
Or
Unplug the connector to the TFE control unit
Wait at least 10 seconds
Then, reconnect the power
PARTS INFORMATION
NOTE: It is not necessary to replace the TFE for this issue.
