Oil galley plug, replace V-220-001 (March 2023) Valid for All Volvo VAH, VN, VHD Trucks built with an 11 L and between July 2022 and March 2023 Case description Certain Volvo VAH, VN, VHD model trucks built with an 11L engine could experience an oil leak on the left side of the engine behind the Crankcase Breather (CCV). Volvo Trucks has developed an updated oil galley plug that is designed with tighter tolerances to improve sealing. To rectify a leaky oil galley plug, follow the instructions below to remove the CCV, remove the oil galley plug and replace with new updated plug. Parts Part Number Description Quantity 996191 Plug 1 20866262 Gasket 1 21541399 O-ring 1 Repair Procedure 1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. 2. Apply the parking brake. 3. Place the gear lever in neutral. 4. Install the wheel chocks. 5. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. 6. Unlatch and raise the hood. 7. Remove the screw and the clamp. 8. Disconnect the connector. 9. Move aside the hose. 10. Remove the cable tie. 11. Remove the nut and the clamp. 12. Disconnect the connector. 13. Move aside the hose. 14. Remove the screw. 15. Remove the pipe. 16. Remove the sealing ring. 17. Remove the screws. 18. Remove the separator. 19. Remove the seal. 20. Remove the oil galley plug using a 10mm allen socket. 21. Clean the block where the new plug seals. 22. Install the new oil galley plug. Part# 996191 Tightening torque Oil galley plug 23. Install the seal. Note: Use new part. 24. Install the separator. 25. Install the screws. Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 lbf⋅ft) Separator, screw 26. Install the seal. Note: Use new part. 27. Install the pipe. 28. Install the screw. 29. Position the hose. 30. Connect the connector. 24±4 Nm (18±3 lbf⋅ft) 31. Install the clamp and the nut. 32. Install new cable tie. 33. Position the hose. 34. Connect the connector. 35. Install the clamp and screw. 36. Connect the cable to the negative terminal. 37. Start the engine. 38. Check the repair for leaks. 39. Turn engine off. 40. Lower the hood. 41. Remove the wheel chocks. 42. Release vehicle to service.
