Issue: Some 2021-2022 Bronco vehicles may exhibit paint damage on the rear quarter panel due to contact with the
rear window assembly (D-pillar). This may be due to an oversized washer being used during production. To correct
the condition, repair the paint damage to the rear quarter panel and replace the rear window assembly.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:
• 2021-2022 Bronco
• Equipped with a factory soft top roof
• Equipped with a rear window that is either original to the vehicle or a service replacement
• Paint damage on the rear quarter panel due to contact with the rear window assembly (D-pillar)

Service Procedure
1. Remove the rear window and both rear quarter window assemblies. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM),
Section 501-18A > Removal and Installation > Soft Top Assembly.
2. Does the vehicle have paint damage on the rear quarter panel like the damage shown in Figure 1?

NOTE: Metal Rivets with metal washer backings were added to Bronco soft top rear window production in
early 2022. When inspecting the rear window D-pillars, each D-pillar may have 0, 3 or 5 metal rivets with
washer backings installed depending on when it was built. All versions are acceptable.
4. Are any of the metal washers (used for metal rivet backings) protruding past the plastic edge of the rear window Dpillars? (Figure 3)
