Introduction
Some 2019 – 2021 model year RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid and 2021 model year RAV4 Prime
vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the sliding roof assembly when it is in the tilted open
position while driving over a bumpy road. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address
this condition.

1. Confirm the condition exists.
Does the vehicle exhibit a rattle noise from
the sliding roof assembly when it is in the
tilted open position while driving over a
bumpy road?

Yes — Continue to step 2.

No — This bulletin does NOT apply.
Continue diagnosis using the
applicable Repair Manual.

2. Remove the sliding roof glass sub-assembly.

3. Remove the adjustment nuts.
A. Remove the nut covers by gently inserting the removal tool (e.g., plastic pliers)
and twisting, as shown in Figure 3.

4. Remove the rubber pads by pulling them
up from the mechanical bracket.

6. Apply grease to the outer circumference
area of the NEW adjustment nut.

8. Reinstall the adjustment nut to the mechanical bracket.
NOTE
Insert the adjustment nut from outside the vehicle toward the interior.

9. Push down the nut cover from the top of the
mechanical bracket and insert it firmly.
