In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the next time the vehicle is in the shop. This Service Information Bulletin (Revision 1) replaces SI B63 04 23 dated March 23, 2023 What’s New (Specific test highlighted) Parts Information MODEL E-Series G07 Model Description X7 Sports Activity Vehicle Production Date August 9, 2022 – October 4, 2022 SITUATION Possible failure of lighting operation in either left or right front headlamp assemblies (i.e., daytime driving lights, low beam headlights, turn indicators). Note: In the event of a fault, a Check Control Message (CCM) will be displayed. CAUSE During the production process of the frontal light electronics (FLM) circuit board, debris remained on the circuit board. CORRECTION Replace the frontal light electronics (FLM) “on the affected side” and program the vehicle using ISTA version 4.39.3x or higher (released early Feb. 2023). Please refer to the Parts Information section below for additional information concerning which side requires replacement and which part number is to be used. PROCEDURE 1. Replace the frontal light electronics (FLM) following the repair instructions listed in the ISTA/AIR. G07: (63 11 900/901) and/or (63 12 282/283) 2. Program the vehicle using ISTA version 4.39.3x or higher, to the target Integration levelG07: S18A-22-11-563 PARTS INFORMATION Please enter a Recall IDS Ticket with the part number of the control unit in the vehicle. BMW will ship the correct side(s) per your VIN and inform you in the response what light requires a control unit replacement. You will not be able to determine which side is required. This replacement part must be installed in the VIN listed as in the PO. CLAIM INFORMATION During this workshop visit, the affected vehicle may also show one or more programming and encoding Technical Campaign repairs open, the programming and encoding procedure may only be invoiced one time. Select this open Technical Campaign to perform and submit for replacing the Frontal Light Electronics control unit and updating the vehicle’s software. When applicable, updating the vehicle to a specified I-level or higher. If and as required by the other open campaigns on the vehicle, please be sure to also perform any additional before and/or after work (including attaching labels). Close the other open programming and encoding Campaign repairs as outlined in the corresponding Service Information Bulletin. As determined by the above, reimbursement for this Service Action will be via normal claim entry utilizing the applicable work package information below and the “IDS ticket specified part number” to install and invoice from the list above for the VIN being repaired. Defect Code: 0063870100 G07 Replace Frontal Light Electronics Completion before the first vehicle delivery to a customer or the vehicle is already in the workshop Work Pkg #1 Labor Operation Description (Plus work) Labor Allowance Replace the Frontal Light Electronics control unit with programming and 00 73 912 encoding the vehicle control units, includes 39 FRU Carrying out vehicle test (00 00 556/61 21 528) and Adjusting headlights (63 10 502) Or: #2 00 73 913 Replace the Frontal Light Electronics control unit, includes Adjusting headlights (63 10 502) (Programming and encoding the vehicle control units was performed in conjunction with another campaign/repair during the same workshop visit) 31 FRU Or: The vehicle arrives at your center and this Service Action shows open (No other Main work will be performed or claimed during this workshop visit) Work Pkg #3 Labor Operation Description (Main work) Labor Allowance Replace the Frontal Light Electronics control unit with programming and 00 73 318 encoding the vehicle control units, includes 41 FRU Carrying out vehicle test (00 00 006/61 21 528) and Adjusting headlights (63 10 502) Only one of the flat rate labor operation codes listed above can be used for claim submission/reimbursement purposes. Also, only one Main work flat rate labor operation code can be claimed per workshop visit. Alternative Mobility Solution (AMS) for Vehicle Owners (RO and Claim Comments Required) This Service Action repair qualifies for Alternative Mobility Solution (AMS) expense reimbursement, claim this item under the Defect Code noted above as follows: Sublet Code 2 - Itemize the AMS sublet amount on the repair order and in the claim comment section. Please refer to SI B01 29 16 for additional information. Programming and Encoding - Vehicle Control Units (RO and Claim Comments Required) This procedure automatically reprograms and encodes any vehicle control modules that do not have the latest software I-level. If one or more control modules fail during the reprogramming procedure, claim the required consequential repair work procedures to address this issue (including performing the IRAP Control Unit Recovery first as required, refer to the SIB in AIR) under the Defect Code in this bulletin with the labor operations in AIR that apply. Please explain the additional work procedures that were performed (The why and the what) on the repair order and in the claim comments. For covered repairs that address control module failures that occurred prior to performing this reprogramming procedure, claim this work with the Defect Code and labor operations (including the diagnosis that applies*) in AIR that apply. Based on which one applies to your center, please refer to SI B01 01 20 or B01 07 20 for the applicable procedure for documenting, claiming, and explaining, on the RO and in the claim comments, your diagnosis work time (WT), job/repair work time (WT), and the vehicle repairs your center performed, unless otherwise required by State law.
