SERVICE INFORMATION BULLETIN APPLICABILITY: SUBJECT: 2020-22MY Legacy & Outback 2.4L Turbo 2019-22MY Ascent NUMBER: 11-204-23 DATE: 04/25/23 PCV Hose Design Change / Odor from Engine Area INTRODUCTION: This Service Information Bulletin announces a design change made to the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose assembly. Enlarged clamps and a reinforced PCV hose material have been incorporated into production to address rare cases of odor coming from the engine compartment. A customer may describe this as a hot rubber, raw fuel, and/or hot oil-type odor. If confirmed, replace the PCV hose assembly and the associated clamps with the new parts. PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION: The new PCV hose assemblies were incorporated into vehicle production as per the VIN information listed below. The service procedures for the PCV hose assembly replacement remain unchanged. Always refer to the applicable Service Manual and review the full requirements of the repair being performed. The Service Manual procedures contain information critical to performing an effective repair the first time, every time. This includes but is not limited to important SAFETY precautions, proper inspection criteria, necessary special tools, required processes and related one-time-use parts needed for a complete and lasting repair. Refer to STIS: Engine > EMISSION CONTROL (AUX. EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES) > PCV Hose IMPORTANT NOTES: • DO NOT re-use the original PCV hose clamps. ONLY use the NEW clamps that come with the NEW PCV hose assembly. • The Service Manual uses a black star () in the component breakdown illustrations to indicate one-time use parts. O-Rings 14497AA080 & 21896AA130 (pictured below) are to be replaced when the intercooler is removed. Continued...
