Tech Tips Date: February 19, 2016 TT 37-16-01 2013-2016 Jetta Hybrid - Mechatronics unit or Transmission replacement tips (including DTC P309D) after the KO Clutch Line is Opened for Service When replacing a mechatronics unit or transmission on a Jetta Hybrid, be sure to remove the plastic shipping plugs from the KO clutch actuator, located on top of the mechatronics unit and install the aluminum triple square cap from the component being replaced. If this cap is not transferred, fault code P309D can set in the TCM. If the KO aluminum cap was transferred over and P309D sets, or if there are issues with the Guided Functions KO clutch bleed, be sure the following steps have been completed: All faults have been cleared through Vehicle OBD Parking brake is in the “OFF” position All 4 passenger doors and hood remain closed during the basic settings Trunk is “Open” with a battery maintainer installed on the 12v battery After the above steps have been completed, the first step of the KO bleed test can performed through; AW01 ECM> Guided Functions> Bleed Disengaging Clutch> then select option (1) Ventilation and follow the Guided Functions steps in the test plan. This step should take approximate 17 minutes to complete. Once the test completes the test plan will usually exit out to the main control module OBD screen of ODIS. Once this happens, the second step of the KO bleed test needs to be performed through; AW01 ECM> Guided Functions> Bleed Disengaging Clutch> then select option (2) Air Entrapment and follow the Guided Functions steps in the test plan.
