Warranty Extension: 2016–2021 Civic and 2017–2022 CR-V A/C Compressor Shaft Seal Leak

What is the reason for this Warranty Extension?
Due to a new North America regulation that introduced a new refrigerant and oil requirement, the compressor shaft
seal may leak. The new refrigerant and oil may cause swelling of the compressor shaft seal. The swelling may lead
to abnormal wearing of the seal which may increase seal gaps around the compressor shaft allowing refrigerant to
leak out.
American Honda is extending the warranty on the A/C compressor shaft seal from the original 3 years to 10 years
from the original date of purchase, with no mileage limitation.
This warranty extension provides coverage for the original owner and any subsequent owners. No action is required
on your part unless you experience a problem. This warranty extension will not apply to any vehicle that has ever
been declared a total loss or sold for salvage by a financial institution or insurer or has a branded or similar title
under any state's law.
What will Honda do?
If your vehicle is experiencing a problem related to this condition, call any authorized Honda dealer and make an
appointment to have your vehicle inspected. If the problem is related to this condition, Honda will replace the A/C
compressor shaft seal for FREE.
Once you make an appointment for your vehicle, be advised that the total repair process may take approximately
2 to 3 hours.
However, your dealer can provide you with a better estimate of the overall time for this service visit, as it may be
necessary to make your vehicle available for a longer period of time. If you are not the only driver of this vehicle,
please advise all other drivers and passengers of this important information.
Lessor Information
Please forward a copy of this notice to the lessee.
What to do if you feel this notice is in error
Our records show that you are the current registered owner or lessee of a 2016–2021 Civic or 2017–2022 CR-V
involved in this warranty extension. If this is not the case, or the name/address information is not correct, please fill
out and return the enclosed, postage-paid Information Change Card. We will then update our records.
If you previously paid to have your A/C compressor and/or shaft seal replaced due to this condition, you may be
eligible for reimbursement, even if you no longer own the vehicle. Refer to the attached reimbursement instructions
for eligibility requirements and the reimbursement procedure.

¿Cuál es el motivo de esta extensión de garantía?
Debido a una nueva regulación de Norteamérica que introdujo un nuevo requisito de refrigerante y aceite, el sello
del eje del compresor puede tener fugas. El refrigerante y el aceite nuevos pueden hacer que se expanda el sello
del eje del compresor. La expansión puede provocar un desgaste anormal del sello, lo que puede aumentar los
espacios del sello alrededor del eje del compresor y permitir que se escape el refrigerante.
American Honda está extendiendo la garantía original de 3 años a 10 años del sello del eje del compresor A/C a la
fecha a partir de la fecha original de compra, sin límite de millas.
Esta extensión de garantía brinda cobertura al propietario original y a cualquier propietario subsiguiente. No se
requiere ninguna acción de su parte a menos que usted experimente algún problema. Esta extensión de garantía
no aplicará a cualquier vehículo que alguna vez se haya declarado pérdida total o que se haya vendido para su
recuperación por una institución financiera o compañía de seguros o que tenga una marca o título similar conforme
alguna ley estatal.
¿Qué hará Honda?
Si su vehículo tiene un problema relacionado con esta condición, llame a cualquier concesionario autorizado Honda y
programe una cita para que inspeccionen su vehículo. Si el problema está relacionado con esta condición, Honda
reemplazará el sello del eje del compresor del A/C de forma GRATUITA.
Una vez que programe una cita para su vehículo, le avisamos que el proceso de reparación total podría tardar
aproximadamente de 2 a 3 horas.
No obstante, su concesionario le puede ofrecer un mejor estimado del tiempo total de esta visita de servicio, ya que
pudiera ser necesario que su vehículo esté disponible por un periodo más largo. Si usted no es el único conductor
de este vehículo, por favor informe a todos los conductores y pasajeros sobre esta información importante.
Información para el arrendador
Por favor envié una copia de esta notificación al arrendatario.
Qué debe hacer si considera que esta notificación es errónea
Nuestros registros indican que usted es el propietario actual registrado o arrendatario de un vehículo Civic
2016–2021 o CR-V 2017–2022, el cual forma parte de esta extensión de garantía. Si no es el caso, o si la
información de nombre/dirección no está correcta, por favor llene y devuelva la tarjeta de cambio de Información
anexa pre-pagada. Con esto actualizaremos nuestros registros.
Si usted anteriormente ha pagado por el reemplazo del compresor del A/C y/o el sello del eje debido a esta
condición, usted puede calificar para un rembolso, aunque ya no sea el propietario del vehículo. Consulte las
instrucciones para reembolso que se encuentra anexa para ver los requisitos de elegibilidad y el procedimiento
de reembolso.
