Technical Service Bulletin 87 A/C display control head E87 inoperative, DTC B200046 stored in 0008 87 23 43 2070582/1 June 8, 2023. Model(s) Year A3, S3, and RS 3 2022 – 2023 VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment All Not Applicable Condition Customer states: The E87 front A/C display control head is blank and contains no readout. No adjustments to the climate control system are possible from the display head. Workshop findings: The following DTC is stored in the Control Module J979 Heating and Air Conditioning Control Module (address word 0008): • DTC B200046 Control module faulty, active/static Technical Background The symptom can be reproduced. The vehicle has experienced an under voltage event and/or has experienced an issue in the high-voltage system or in the vehicle voltage supply. As a result the memory capability of the Heating and Air Conditioning Control Module is compromised and this DTC entry is stored and creates this symptom. Technical Service Bulletin Switch off the ignition. Remove the 30 power supply to the J979 Heating and Air Conditioning Control Module by removing fuse SC43 (Figure 1) for at least 30 minutes. After this time period reinstall this fuse, turn the ignition on, readdress the 0008 module and the DTC can then be cleared. The readout on the E87 front A/C display control head will return and normal HVAC control is restored. Figure 1. Location of fuse SC43 in fuse panel C –SC-.
