6/26/23, 2:49 PM 2023 Bronco TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 2.7L - Illuminated MIL With DTC P051B - Built On Or Before 12-Jun-2023 23-2185 19 June 2023 Model: Ford 2023 Bronco Engine: 2.7L Built on or before 12-Jun-2023 Issue: Some 2023 Bronco vehicles built on or before 12-Jun-2023 equipped with a 2.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P051B stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the software in the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM. Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition if the vehicle meets all of the following criteria: • 2023 Bronco • Built on or before 12-Jun-2023 • 2.7L engine • Illuminated MIL with DTC P051B stored in the PCM Warranty Status: Eligible under provisions of New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW)/Emissions Warranty/Service Part Warranty (SPW)/Special Service Part (SSP)/Extended Service Plan (ESP) coverage. Limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. NVLW/Emissions Warranty/SPW/SSP/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool. Labor Times Description Operation No. Time 2023 Bronco 2.7L: Reprogram The PCM (Do Not Use With Any Other Labor Operations) 232185A 0.3 Hrs. Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: RECALEM Condition Code: 04 Service Procedure 1. Reprogram the PCM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). Repair is complete. If DTC P051B persists, refer to PPT HG of the Workshop Manual, Section 303-08B. NOTE: Advise the customer that this vehicle is equipped with an adaptive transmission shift strategy which allows the vehicle's computer to learn the transmission's unique parameters and improve shift quality. When the adaptive strategy is reset, the computer will begin a relearning process.
