VCMS UPDATE FOR CHARGING SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENT
Description: This bulletin provides the procedure for updating the software of the Vehicle Charge
Management System (VCMS) to improve charging.
It may address an intermittent stops charging condition or the following EV Light On DTC condition:
DTC P1ABD00 – Battery Charger Coupler Temperature Too High

• 2023MY GV60 Electric (JW1 EV) vehicles produced Feb. 4, 2022 to Jan. 05, 2023
• 2023MY G80 Electric (RG3 EV) vehicles produced Feb. 23, 2022 to Dec. 29, 2022

NOTE 1: Op time includes VIN, Mileage, and photo capture of the “ECU Update Complete” screen.
NOTE 2: Normal warranty applies.
NOTE 3: Submit claim on Claim Entry Screen as “Warranty” type.
NOTE 4: If a part that is not covered by this TSB needs replacement while performing this TSB, and the
affected part is still under warranty, please submit a separate claim using the same repair order. If the
part is out of warranty, submit a prior approval request for goodwill consideration prior to performing the
work.

VCMS UPDATE FOR CHARGING SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENT
Service Procedure:
STUI
As outlined in the Digital Documentation Policy, all claims require VIN and Mileage validation
through VCI connection or photo capture, AND photo capture of the “ECU Update Complete”
screen. All claims submitted that have incomplete, illegible, or missing documentation
are subject to debit.
NOTICE
You must initially perform the GDS ECU Update in Auto Mode.
• If the ECU Update starts but then fails in Auto Mode, perform the update in Manual Mode to
recover.

WARNING
GDS Vehicle Battery Low Voltage Warning:
If voltage is below 12 volts as per the below GDS warning, then select Back and run the vehicle for
at least 20 minutes to ensure an adequate battery state of charge for reliable update results. Turn
ignition back on, and then retry the ECU update again.
1. Perform the VCMS Update in Auto Mode.
a. Use the Auto Mode ID Check to verify the VCMS ROM ID before updating the software.

b. After the ECU Upgrade process shows 100% complete, cycle the ignition key to OFF for at
least 10 seconds to reset the control unit.
c. Take a screenshot of the ECU Update complete screen and upload to STUI.

EXAMPLE
2. Perform an All Systems Fault Code search and erase the history of the DTC that had incidentally
occurred from the ECU update.
3. Start the vehicle in Ready mode to confirm proper operation of the vehicle.
4. Confirm that vehicle functions to take a Level-1 ICCB or Level-2 AC Charge.
